Steven Kenny Posters

I first came across Stephen's work at Somerset House's Pick-Me-Up event. If you've never been I'd recommend it. If you have, you can make up your own mind as it seems to get a bit repetitive, but always a great way to spend an evening!

Stephen takes his inspiration from Victorian posters, 1920's French Surrealists and contemporary music/literature. He's worked on book & record covers and branding as well designing & producing his own posters.
Stephen first fell for letterpress when he came across a collection of Victorian posters in the book of a retired printer in 2002.
A few years later, Stephen has a wood type collection, studio of his own and works full time as a letterpress designer and printer. Working within a longstanding tradition and with old machines, you are continuously reminded of the medium’s history. Wood type that is damaged and worn takes on a life of its own, every mark and scratch makes each block and print entirely unique.
