I'VE DRAWN EVER SINCE I CAN REMEMBER AND HAVE THE HOME VIDEOS TO PROVE IT. BUT SOMEWHERE BETWEEN COLLEGE AND UNIVERSITY I PUT DOWN MY PENCIL AND PICKED UP A MOUSE, KEYBOARD AND WACOM. HOWEVER, IF YOU LISTEN VERY CAREFULLY, YOU CAN STILL HEAR THE TINY RUSTLING OF A PENCIL ON PARCHEMENT...

I do little scrawls throughout the day and occasionally sit down properly to dedicate myself to more intricate pieces. It led me to originally calling myself illuminating Scrawl when I was wearing my Illustration hat -Some of them make it on to products like cards, t-shirts and bags. I ran a stall with Sly Photography in 2010 in East London's BrickLane market and were asked to be part of a Valentines Day Pop-Up Shop at 'Back to Basics' in Bethnal Green and a Mothers Day Pop-Up Shop in March through The Create Place. It was an absolute pleasure to be a part of. Here is some of the work.
LUBU ISLAND
Here are two projects, the first LUBU ISLAND a children's illustration storybook and the other, Monster Maxims, bringing a modern illustrative approach to old moral tales from our parents and such!

There is a sleeping dinosaur in the middle of the ocean somewhere.
So big and so quiet that people and creatures have mistaken it for an Island!
THE TREE OF KNOWLEDGE
The tree of knowledge is one of the oldest and most important things that lives on the island. Its trunk grows books, full of every subject you could wish for and if it doesn't have it, if you wish hard enough and ask it nicely, it will have soon!
THE GEEKY MONKEES
The geeky monkees live in the tree, read its books and eat its fruit. The fruit makes their brains hold more information and also less forgetful but its pretty bitter stuff and the monkees are the only ones able to eat it. The geeky monkees are the cleverest and cheekiest things on the island. They maybe able to tell you everything that you want and need, but will they? -that's a whole other question!
THE SHOOMIES
Under the tree of knowledge live the shoomies, the small but perfectly formed little shoomies live among the roots of the trees, shading in the multchy floor of the deepest green glades of the forest. They are the Ying to the Geeky Monkees Yang,. For where the mischievious monkees gain in knowledge they lose in wanting to share it... (but only when they're being particularly naughty!). Whereas the the shoomies, although perfectly formed have the small part of their description attributed to the size of their brains! bless. However they have big hearts to make up for it and will do anything to help... especially when the tree swingers aren't being much use!
A-ME-BA BEACH
On the East side of the island is EasySide Beach, unfortunately one of the local inhabitants is the rather playful A-ME-BA Clan, and it's allll about them! Very attention seeking little critters who want nothing to play and disturb all the folk who've come for a lovely chill. -A note to all EasySide Beach dwellers!
EL CAPITA
The Capitan spends his days circling the island shouting his opinions and telling his stories of the high seas to all who will listen!

MONSTER MAXIMS
I have to admit it, I don't see a whole lot of morals being taught to our younger generations these days. Yes, they are a gift and yes, they're young and should be happy and care-free.
But what's the harm in drumming some morality in to their every day lives? In a fun, happy playful way of course!

Logo for the Pop-Up Shop
I love drawing stolen moments I see. When I first started illuminating Scrawl, the characters always came out a little more animated then they were meant to be,  so I've been working on my style more recently... here is the I.S Portfolio recent work, scroll down to see all of what Illuminating Scrawl is about.

Well Our pre launch at St Barnabas was a roaring success, it was amazing night and we got to hear some amazing bands, one of which -AHAB is talked about on the 'GREAT THINGS' Page so go check em' out.
The following morning we arrived a wee bit bleary eyed but full of cheer, not to mention coffee and melted cheese sandwiches at 9am - It's not that bad is it? at the Truman Brewery and set up camp/ the stall. Our lil' spot is in the Upmarket up the stairs from the ground floor of the Truman Brewery Market floor. We're the ones covered in (handmade byMumabu) black bunting and cute fairy lights.

We've been selling things like hotcakes and so far only snow and a slow postal service have stopped us.
Illuminating Scrawl and the  Sly Photos partnership!

Check out our website!
Drop by our gorgeous stall in the Truman Brewery at the Bricklane in-door market and see what treats we have on stall for for you...

Sketch Me If You Can
I love to people watch, especially on the tube, what people get up to when they don't realise they're being watched is bizarre. However this lady wasn't very bizarre, she was just very wee and had a very big paper!

Last night Ross Wilson and I from the BlueRoseCode watched Renny Jackson play his glorious gig in Camden, which meant that sketchbooks were brought beside pints of Guinness to perfect some details of London Bridge... An owl was also throw in for good measure and some characatures of the crowd...
