The Sunday Roast

Hello M'lovelies!
T'is Sunday and therefore time for a wee review of the week, but my oh my, what a week it has been!
It has been a week for music! -For those of you who read the other pages of this blog you will already know about a few of the artists I'm about to drool all over. The week kicked off with a superb Abigail Washburn gig at The Slaughtered Lamb. My friend and I know the proprietor of the gig night The Electroacoustic Club and so were allowed to get in early and grab chief seats by the amps -always a bad omen for my pints and their wiring! Abigail Washburn (See GREAT THINGS Page) and her band were nothing short of mind blowing -pitch perfect - banjo thwackingly awe inspiring and took on journeys you wouldn't think possible in a dark London basement. A few days later I made my way to Brighton to watch the legend and my childhood songbird Richard Thompson. Playing a 2 hour set. He spent the first half introducing his new album Dream Attic. I have to admit I do like his more pop-py songs and love 'The Money Shuffle' a satirical look at our economic decline and 'Big Sun Falling in the River' Which is simply about Richard gazing out at the sunset whilst standing on London's Millennium Bridge. My Pa would recommend to you 'Stumble On' and the clever words of 'Burning man' referencing the Nevada Desert as well as early bible readings (ooh-err!). Which made it even more of a pleasure to listen to listen to Radio 2's Bob Harris Sunday Session last night, not only to hear the lovely boys of ahab (See GREAT THINGS Page) play a live acoustic session - You can still check them out on BBC Iplayer. But also to have them followed by both Abigail and Richard. The whole show was opened by an interview with Richard's son Teddy Thompson, who is also great and other featured artists Old Crow Medicine Show (playing Wagon Wheel produce by Dave Rawlings! -oooh! so many gorgeous connections going on here -*note to self -must listen to Gillian Welch! Plus songs from Crosby Stills and Nash and Paul Brady - umm wow -no more pudding for me!
After that beautiful music ramble lets get back to business...
It was the week of the newly named The Create Place's Valentine Pop-Up Shop and it was gorgeous! -Amazingly popular Jill Robertson and her team had done a superb job on promoting, setting up and organising the whole event and was so popular they ran it for the whole weekend and will continue for the following week's lead up to the special loved up day! aww yaye! Well Done guys!
It was also Sly and my last stall day at our stall until our next venture awww... A massive thank you to Sarah and Ben for all their help, support and amazing friendship over the past 8 months. It's been a privilege.
